Organizational Context
The WFP Regional Innovation Hub – HZERO – based in Bogotá, Colombia, drives disruptive innovations and transformations towards achieving zero hunger in the region. HZero strengthens local Food and Nutrition Security (FNS) innovation ecosystems by fostering partnerships, catalyzing efforts, and facilitating resources to support impactful innovations in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Job Purpose
The Senior Innovation Programme Associate will manage HZero's innovation projects and programmes, from incubation and acceleration to internal WFP innovation initiatives. This role ensures the design, implementation, monitoring, and scaling of these initiatives, driving the application of people-centered methodologies like design thinking and agile approaches. The position will support operational coordination with partners and ecosystem actors, alongside managing associated activities and tasks. Key responsibilities include strategic programme management, partner engagement, fostering innovation, and ensuring robust monitoring and continuous improvement to achieve the Hub's objectives and WFP's mission.
Responsibilities
The Senior Innovation Programs Associate will manage and implement innovation programs within the WFP's HZERO Innovation Hub, focusing on food security and nutrition in Latin America and the Caribbean. This role involves overseeing incubation, acceleration, and co-creation processes, ensuring methodological quality and alignment with WFP's objectives. Key responsibilities include developing and consolidating partnerships with the private sector, government entities, and innovation ecosystem actors to enhance the Hub's sustainability and impact. The associate will provide methodological support, utilizing human-centered design, co-creation, agile, and lean methodologies. A significant part of the role involves leading and executing technological pilots to test and scale new technologies applicable to WFP programs and operations. This includes managing project lifecycles, from design and implementation to monitoring and scaling, as well as overseeing budgets, managing risks, and ensuring effective communication of program results and learnings. The position also supports the development of new initiatives, resource mobilization, and fostering a culture of innovation within WFP and its partners.
Work Experience
Requires at least 7 years of national or international experience in leading or managing innovation programs and projects. This includes experience in entrepreneurship, acceleration, venture building, innovation hubs, startups, or innovation roles across private, public, development, or humanitarian sectors.
