Job Purpose
The Head of Sub-Office in Ali Sabieh is responsible for the effective management and implementation of WFP programmes within the sub-office's area of operation. This includes overseeing daily operations, ensuring efficient resource utilization, and maintaining strong relationships with local authorities, partners, and beneficiaries. The role requires proactive leadership to ensure the continued development of a cohesive and high-performing team, timely resolution of operational issues, and adherence to WFP's security and safety standards. The job holder will contribute to monitoring activities, preparing reports, and building partnerships to enhance food assistance delivery and preparedness, ultimately supporting WFP's strategic objectives in the region.
Responsibilities
The Head of Sub-Office is responsible for the effective management and development of a high-performing team within their assigned area. This includes planning and overseeing WFP field operations to ensure efficient and timely delivery of food assistance, resolving operational issues promptly to prevent losses or delays, and ensuring efficient resource utilization in line with agreed plans. A key responsibility is maintaining the security of staff, operations, premises, and assets by implementing and adhering to WFP security and safety standards, and actively participating in security management teams. The role involves conducting regular monitoring of activities, preparing comprehensive performance reports for the Country Office, and building strong, collaborative relationships with local authorities, international and local NGOs, UN agencies, civil societies, beneficiaries, and media to enhance food security initiatives. This includes engaging with beneficiaries, inspecting storage facilities, and ensuring frequent presence at project and distribution sites to guarantee compliance with WFP policies and project objectives. The position also requires contributing to expertise sharing and capacity building for effective preparedness and response to food assistance needs.
Work Experience
Requires six years of relevant professional experience, or four years with a Bachelor's degree or higher. Desired experience includes developing work plans, field operations exposure (preferably in hardship or emergency settings), analyzing political situations, managing budgets, leading teams, participating in negotiations and emergency operations, and security coordination.
