Job Purpose
The Research and Data Analysis Consultant will be instrumental in advancing WFP Cambodia's evidence agenda, ensuring the generation and utilization of high-quality analytical outputs. This role is critical for informing strategic decision-making, refining program design, supporting policy engagement, and strengthening national capacities. The consultant will lead research initiatives, conduct rigorous quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and translate complex findings into actionable insights for diverse stakeholders. By ensuring analytical rigor and promoting evidence uptake, this position directly contributes to WFP's mission of saving lives and building pathways to peace and prosperity in Cambodia, aligning with national priorities and international standards.
Responsibilities
The Research and Data Analysis Consultant will be instrumental in advancing the World Food Programme's (WFP) evidence agenda in Cambodia. This role involves leading the generation, synthesis, and utilization of high-quality analytical outputs to inform strategic decision-making, program design, policy engagement, and capacity building. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing the country office's research agenda, identifying evidence gaps, and translating strategic questions into rigorous analytical work. The consultant will oversee the production of research reports, policy briefs, and analytical notes, ensuring adherence to ethical standards and data protection. A significant part of the role involves providing technical support and oversight for data analysis, ensuring methodological soundness and analytical rigor. This includes conducting advanced data analytics and validating evidence products. Furthermore, the consultant will champion the systematic use of evidence in strategic planning and program adaptation, translating complex findings into actionable insights for diverse audiences. They will also facilitate internal learning processes and support the integration of evidence into corporate reporting. A crucial aspect is strengthening the capacity of national counterparts and WFP staff in research design, data analysis, and evidence-informed decision-making through joint analytical work and training. The role also entails coordinating research efforts across units and engaging with various partners to promote collaborative research and harmonized evidence approaches, ultimately supporting WFP's transition to a technical advisory role and enhancing its impact in Cambodia.
Work Experience
Requires an advanced university degree in an analytical field and a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in evidence generation, research, or data analysis within humanitarian, development, or public sector contexts. Must have strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills, ensuring methodological rigor and data integrity. Demonstrated experience in leading research work, including study design and oversight of evidence products, is essential. Excellent communication skills for presenting findings to diverse audiences are also required.
