Job Purpose
The Storekeeper will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations, ensuring the efficient and accurate receipt, dispatch, and verification of commodities. Additionally, the Storekeeper will maintain organized records, optimize warehouse space, and may provide supervision and on-the-job training to other warehouse staff, contributing to overall operational excellence and support for WFP's humanitarian mission.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this role revolve around the meticulous management of warehouse operations, with a strong emphasis on commodity handling and inventory control. This includes supervising the accurate receipt and dispatch of both food and non-food items, ensuring precise physical counts and quality verification against official documentation. A key aspect is maintaining comprehensive and organized records of all warehouse transactions, adhering to WFP's corporate systems and audit requirements. The role demands diligent inventory management, including daily reconciliations and support for periodic stock counts, to ensure accuracy and prevent losses. Quality assurance is critical, involving routine inspections, identification of discrepancies or damages, and the preparation of detailed loss reports with corrective action recommendations. Safeguarding commodities from spoilage, contamination, theft, or damage through adherence to WFP procedures is paramount. Furthermore, the position involves maintaining the physical condition of the warehouse for safety and optimal space utilization, as well as providing guidance, supervision, and training to warehouse staff to ensure operational standards are met and team performance is enhanced. The role also encompasses performing other related duties as assigned.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in logistics, warehouse operations, or a related field. Experience with logistics databases for reporting, managing food/NFI warehouses, inventory management, and processing invoices is also needed.
