In Angola, the Partnerships, Reports and Communications unit plays a crucial role in positioning WFP, fostering partnerships, and securing resources. Job Purpose
The Partnership, Communication and Reporting Consultant will lead WFP Angola's resource mobilization and external communications initiatives. The primary objective is to expand the donor base and strengthen existing partnerships, including with the host government. This role involves developing advocacy strategies, overseeing the creation of donor reports and external communication materials, and providing strategic communication support to the Head of Office. The consultant will engage with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, leveraging socio-political insights to effectively position WFP and attract resources, technical assistance, and innovative solutions. This position is instrumental in advancing WFP's vision and ensuring effective humanitarian assistance in Angola.
Responsibilities
The incumbent is responsible for leading the implementation of work plans to identify, develop, and strengthen partnerships aligned with WFP's strategic objectives. This involves engaging with various units to tailor WFP's offerings for specific audiences and policy dialogues, ensuring alignment across the organization. Key duties include managing partnership portfolios, analyzing data and trends, conducting outreach, and ensuring partner visibility and compliance. The role facilitates corporate dialogue through strategic documents and briefs, proactively identifying opportunities and issues for senior management, and supporting joint events. Intelligence gathering on partners, assessing results, and supporting functional units on partnership strategies are crucial. The incumbent will drive partnership growth by exploring new opportunities, conducting due diligence, and presenting recommendations. They will contribute to partnership proposals, agreements, and MOUs, ensuring quality control. Utilizing socio-political insights is essential for positioning WFP effectively with governments and institutions to influence policy agendas. The role also involves gathering input for inter-governmental work, contributing to preparedness actions, monitoring risks, and leading the drafting of the Annual Country Report. Furthermore, the incumbent supports communications and public advocacy strategies, supervises staff, maintains contact with government and UN agencies, and utilizes multimedia materials to enhance WFP's positioning. They will serve as an editor for various communication products, ensure dissemination of information, organize capacity-building sessions, and provide daily support to the Head of Office, including managing correspondence, representing the Head of Office in meetings, and coordinating travel and follow-up actions.
Work Experience
Requires at least five years of relevant professional experience, particularly in partnership roles. This includes experience in strategic advisory capacities, project proposal writing, and understanding donor reporting requirements.
