Job Purpose
The IT Assistant will provide crucial first-line technical support to WFP staff, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of IT and Telecommunications (TC) services. This role is essential for enabling staff to deliver vital food assistance to beneficiaries by maintaining and troubleshooting essential technology. Responsibilities include managing support requests, diagnosing and resolving issues with PCs, printers, Wi-Fi, and Office 365, and supporting conference room technology. The IT Assistant will also assist with onboarding/offboarding, equipment installation, and network support, extending remote assistance to various sub-offices. This position directly contributes to WFP's mission by ensuring that the technological infrastructure supporting humanitarian operations is robust and reliable.
Responsibilities
The IT Assistant, under the guidance of the Head of the TEC division, is responsible for providing comprehensive first-line technical support to staff. This includes meticulously recording, classifying, and tracking all support requests and incidents, ensuring timely resolution by updating ticket details, troubleshooting issues, and escalating unresolved problems. The role involves diagnosing and resolving technical difficulties with PCs, printers, Wi-Fi, and Office 365 applications. Additionally, the IT Assistant will support conference room technology, including Teams conferencing setups, and assist with the onboarding and offboarding of staff. Key responsibilities also extend to the installation and configuration of IT equipment, troubleshooting network issues such as LAN, Wi-Fi, and VPN, and providing remote support to various sub-offices. The position requires preparing IT equipment for dispatch to these locations and performing any other assigned duties to ensure efficient and effective IT services.
Work Experience
The role requires a University Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Essential competencies include being client-oriented, adaptable, and a team player with integrity. Candidates should possess a basic understanding of hardware, networking, and operating systems, along with knowledge of Office 365 and good communication skills. Fluency in English is mandatory.
