Job Purpose

Responsibilities
The Procurement Officer role at the World Food Programme (WFP) is pivotal in ensuring optimal value for money in all procurement activities, maintaining high standards of fairness, integrity, and transparency. This position focuses on strengthening supplier enablement and engagement, making WFP's procurement processes more accessible and competitive. Key responsibilities include improving supplier registration, onboarding, and participation in sourcing activities, alongside effective supplier performance management. The role also involves advancing the implementation and maturation of digital procurement solutions across the entire lifecycle, from supplier relationship management (SRM) to sourcing-to-contracting (S2C) and purchase-to-goods-receipt (P2GR). The Procurement Officer will support the development of procurement plans, facilitate supplier enablement on digital platforms, and act as a liaison for supplier engagement on these tools. They will identify and propose improvements for digital procurement workflows, assess potential suppliers, and support sourcing activities. Operational coordination, administrative support for procurement projects, and monitoring supplier performance are also crucial. The role requires ensuring compliance with WFP standards, contributing to reporting and decision-making through data analysis, and supporting audit processes. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, training staff and suppliers on procurement systems, and guiding junior staff are also integral aspects of this position. Furthermore, the officer will support emergency preparedness and response procurement efforts.
Work Experience
The role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing end-to-end procurement processes, including sourcing, contracting, and supplier performance management. Proven experience in supplier onboarding, market engagement, and driving supplier participation is essential. Hands-on experience with digital procurement systems (SRM, S2C, P2GR) and supporting their implementation or optimization is also required.
