Job Purpose
The HR Associate will provide comprehensive, client-focused Human Resources services aligned with WFP's strategy and operational needs in the Dar es Salaam Country Office. This role is crucial for supporting both operational delivery and strategic HR initiatives, including HR analytics, employee engagement, and advisory services. The incumbent will serve as a primary point of contact for HR guidance, ensuring accurate interpretation and application of WFP policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include supporting payroll processing, analyzing HR data for strategic planning and reporting, coordinating talent management and onboarding processes, and contributing to employee engagement and wellness programs. Additionally, the HR Associate will assist in performance management, learning initiatives, promoting diversity and inclusion, maintaining HR systems, and ensuring compliance and effective record management.
Responsibilities
The Human Resources Associate will provide comprehensive, client-focused HR services aligned with WFP's strategy and operational needs. Key responsibilities include serving as the primary HR contact for guidance, offering technical support on HR rules, and administering payroll processing with accuracy and compliance. The role involves collecting and analyzing HR data for strategic planning and reporting, coordinating recruitment processes, and facilitating onboarding for new staff. Additionally, the associate will support employee engagement and wellness initiatives, manage performance cycles, and coordinate learning and development activities. Promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in hiring and workplace culture is also a core function. The position requires maintaining HR data in systems, preparing HR documents, supporting HR audits, and managing personnel records. The associate will also assist with staff deployment, emergency support, and communicating HR policy changes. This role demands strong HR knowledge, data analysis skills, proficiency in HRIS and office software, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic, multicultural environment, with fluency in English and Swahili being essential.
Work Experience
Requires at least 6 years of progressive human resources experience, ideally in humanitarian or development settings. Experience with strategic HR initiatives such as analytics, engagement, and wellness is preferred. Strong knowledge of HR principles, policies, and procedures, along with proficiency in data analysis and HR metrics reporting, is essential. The role also demands excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. Familiarity with HRIS and standard office software is necessary.
