Job Purpose
The IT Operations Assistant will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical support and maintaining IT systems and data to ensure the effective delivery of IT services across WFP operations in Ambovombe, Ampanihy, Fort-Dauphin, and Tuléar. This role involves performing system maintenance, monitoring, diagnostics, and optimization to ensure efficient operation. The assistant will also be responsible for maintaining technology through standard repairs and configurations, managing IT equipment availability, and preparing files and systems for inventory and archives. Additionally, the position requires responding to user queries, providing basic end-user training, and supporting the deployment of hardware and software. The IT Operations Assistant will maintain information records, install and operate telecommunications systems, and contribute to the continuous improvement of IT services, including supporting emergency response processes.
Responsibilities
The IT Operations Assistant role at the World Food Programme (WFP) involves providing high-quality technical support and maintaining IT systems and data to ensure the effective delivery of IT services. Key responsibilities include performing system maintenance tasks such as monitoring, diagnostics, and optimization to ensure efficient operation. The assistant will maintain technology through standard repairs and configuration, adhering to data security protocols, to ensure WFP staff have available IT equipment. They will also prepare files and systems for inventory and archives, ensuring data accuracy. A crucial part of the role involves responding to technology-related queries from WFP staff, assisting them in their service delivery. Additionally, the assistant will provide standard training to end-users on technology and systems, and perform routine deployments of server hardware and software, including testing. Maintaining information records, such as updating web pages and databases, is also a key duty. The role may also involve installing and maintaining telecommunications systems and supporting the development of training materials. The assistant will follow emergency response procedures as needed and suggest improvements to IT service methods and processes. This position requires a secondary school education, a desirable post-secondary certificate in a related field, and five years of relevant job experience, with a strong ability to resolve complex technical issues and apply client service standards.
