Job Purpose
The Programme Policy Officer (Disability Inclusion) will support WFP Lebanon's disability inclusion agenda by contributing to policy and programme activities. This role is crucial for consolidating, strengthening, and showcasing WFP Lebanon's achievements in disability inclusion, ensuring their systematic integration into the Country Strategic Plan and alignment with global frameworks. The incumbent will provide technical guidance, strategic direction, and coordination to enhance the quality and consistency of disability-inclusive programming across various portfolios, working closely with programme and RAM teams. The position aims to ensure that WFP's interventions effectively meet food assistance needs while actively promoting the inclusion and participation of persons with disabilities.
Responsibilities
The Programme Policy Officer (Disability Inclusion) is responsible for contributing to the development and management of projects and programmes, ensuring alignment with broader organizational policies and guidance. This role involves providing project management support for straightforward initiatives, maintaining rigorous data gathering and monitoring standards, and researching policy and operational issues to inform senior colleagues. The officer will also contribute to accurate and timely reporting, liaise with internal counterparts for effective collaboration, and monitor ongoing projects. A key aspect of the role is supporting the identification, development, and management of partnerships to enhance food assistance packages. Furthermore, the position involves capacity building for WFP staff, partners, and national governments in preparing for and responding to food assistance needs, including through project management of learning initiatives. The officer will also provide guidance to support staff, acting as a point of referral and assisting with analysis and queries, and perform other related duties as required. This role is crucial for advancing WFP's disability inclusion agenda and ensuring its systematic integration into strategic plans, while coordinating with programme and monitoring teams to enhance the quality and consistency of disability-inclusive programming.
Work Experience
Requires one year of postgraduate professional experience or three years of experience after a first university degree in disability inclusion and integration within mainstream organizations. Experience should include work with UN, NGOs, or the private sector, and established networks with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities in Lebanon. Desirable experience includes analysis, evaluation, capacity needs assessments, and capacity strengthening.
