Job Purpose

The Security/Access Associate G6 in Gonaives, Haiti, will support the Country Office in implementing access and security strategies. This role involves assessing security situations, analyzing risks, and recommending mitigation measures to ensure the safety of personnel, facilities, and operations. The Associate will also coordinate humanitarian access, engage with local authorities and stakeholders, and contribute to contingency planning and training. Key responsibilities include operational support, information gathering, contextual analysis, and liaising with various actors to facilitate program delivery in a secure environment. The position requires strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills, with a focus on maintaining acceptable security conditions for staff and beneficiaries.

Responsibilities

The Security and Access Assistant, based in Gonaives, Haiti, plays a crucial role in supporting the country office's implementation of access and security strategies. This position requires an individual who can autonomously handle daily challenges, demonstrating initiative and sound judgment. The assistant is responsible for implementing and evaluating security measures, maintaining equipment, and providing recommendations to ensure the safety of personnel, facilities, and operations. On the access front, the role involves ensuring a coordinated and consistent approach to humanitarian access, enabling the World Food Programme (WFP) to deliver its programs effectively and maximize assistance to vulnerable populations in Haiti under acceptable security conditions. This includes supervising the analysis of the current humanitarian situation to anticipate and address potential impacts on WFP operations. The assistant will also support WFP's engagement with humanitarian and non-humanitarian actors and other stakeholders in Gonaives. Key responsibilities include operational support for field missions, analyzing security assessment reports, implementing risk management measures, and ensuring strict adherence to access control procedures. The role also involves contributing to contingency planning, conducting security training, managing security equipment, and supervising staff. Furthermore, the assistant is tasked with collecting and analyzing security-related information, reporting on threats and risks, advising on security risk management, and maintaining contact directories. External engagement includes liaising with local authorities, UN security personnel, NGOs, and other actors to facilitate program access and mitigate risks. The position may require deployment to other field offices across the country.

Work Experience

Requires at least 6 years of relevant experience in humanitarian access, security management, and community relations in conflict settings.
