Job Purpose
The Senior Programme Associate (Data and GIS Analyst) will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the Karamoja Sentinel project. Responsibilities
The Data and GIS Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the Karamoja Sentinel project. Key responsibilities include assisting with data preparation, which involves cleaning, formatting, validating, and managing diverse datasets from climate, market, food security, and monitoring sources. The analyst will also maintain project databases and repositories, perform routine statistical analysis, and contribute to data quality assurance and documentation. In terms of GIS and mapping, the role involves producing maps and spatial analysis products, updating geospatial layers for specific districts, and contributing to vulnerability overlays and visualization products for dashboards and reports. Furthermore, the analyst will support the preparation and updating of Power BI/Tableau dashboards, assist in generating analytical reports, and contribute to the visualization of food security risk indicators. Coordination tasks include organizing workshops, preparing training materials, monitoring project activities and timelines, and supporting communication with government counterparts and humanitarian partners. The expected deliverables encompass updated datasets, well-maintained repositories, data quality outputs, metadata, developed dashboards, reporting products, and workshop documentation.
Work Experience
The role requires a minimum of three to five years of relevant professional experience. This experience should include supporting data analysis, market monitoring, GIS, general monitoring, or research activities. Prior exposure to humanitarian, development, agriculture, climate, or food security programs is considered desirable.
