Job Purpose
The Communications Assistant will support WFP Palestine's communication efforts by coordinating administrative and specialized communication processes. This role is crucial for enhancing WFP's visibility and reputation by assisting in the creation, planning, and publication of content, managing media relations, and supporting fundraising activities. The assistant will monitor traditional and social media, liaise with local journalists, and contribute to communications campaigns, including those focused on Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC). They will also help build communication capacity among WFP staff and partners, manage media contact databases, and respond to information requests, ensuring consistent messaging and effective communication strategies in a challenging humanitarian context.

Key responsibilities include creating, planning, and publishing communication content across various traditional and social media platforms, ensuring consistency with WFP's corporate messages. The position requires managing media relations, liaising with local journalists, and responding to media requests to raise awareness of WFP's work. Additionally, the role involves monitoring traditional and social media to inform communication strategies, supporting fundraising activities through visibility efforts, and assisting program teams with Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) materials. The job holder will also build communication capacity among WFP staff and partners, maintain media contact databases, and respond to inquiries. This role is crucial for maintaining WFP's public image and supporting its life-saving operations in a complex humanitarian environment.
Work Experience
Requires five or more years of experience in Communications. Prior experience in media, or with the UN or an NGO is highly desirable.
