Job Purpose
The WFP Volunteer will support the regional Technology (TEC) Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) function in the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe (MENAEE) region. This role is crucial for enhancing emergency readiness by improving data circulation, collection, tracking, and coordination with Country Offices. The volunteer will work under direct supervision to contribute to ongoing initiatives and capacity-building activities, assisting in data management, report preparation, and the organization of regional events like Simulation Exercises. The position aims to build practical experience in IT emergency preparedness within a leading humanitarian organization, supporting the consolidation of IT assets and readiness status across the region.
Responsibilities
The volunteer's primary role is to support the Regional TEC EPR Officer in enhancing IT emergency preparedness across the MENAEE region. This involves actively participating in data management, including circulation, collection, tracking, and consolidation related to IT emergency preparedness. The volunteer will assist in generating essential reports, dashboard feeds, and tracking sheets that monitor compliance, risks, and readiness status. A key responsibility includes contributing to the organization of regional activities, such as Simulation Exercises (SimEx), and maintaining crucial documentation like guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), contact lists, and inventories. Furthermore, the role requires supporting coordination efforts with TEC colleagues and Country Offices through follow-ups, updates, and basic communication. The volunteer will also conduct research on new IT tools and solutions for emergency response and provide administrative and logistical support for TEC EPR activities. Expected deliverables include updated tracking sheets, organized documentation, support for regional events, and summary reports, all aimed at strengthening the region's emergency response capabilities.
Work Experience
The role requires an undergraduate (final year) or recent graduate in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, engineering, or a related field. Basic knowledge of IT systems and Microsoft O365 tools is necessary. Strong organizational and communication skills, along with an interest in humanitarian work and emergency response, are essential. English proficiency is mandatory.
