Job Purpose
The Aide de cafétéria (Cafeteria Aide) at the SC-3 level will be responsible for performing a variety of routine site maintenance tasks to ensure a safe, pleasant, and reliable working environment. This includes coordinating and executing maintenance, installation, and repair work on site facilities and equipment, such as generators, water pumps, and plumbing systems, ensuring they function correctly and meet safety standards. The role involves assisting with cleaning, moving equipment, and setting up spaces for meetings and events, as well as maintaining accurate inventory records and managing the disposal of assets according to WFP guidelines. Additionally, the incumbent will report on work undertaken, materials used, and assist in planning future maintenance activities to support efficient and cost-effective site services.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities involve comprehensive site maintenance and operational support to ensure a safe, organized, and functional work environment. This includes planning, coordinating, and executing various maintenance and installation tasks, with a focus on regular preventive upkeep of essential equipment such as generators, water heaters, and pumps to guarantee their optimal performance. The role also encompasses coordinating and performing logistical services, including equipment relocation, workstation setup and reorganization, and space preparation for events like conferences and meetings. Waste removal and emergency cleaning are also key duties. Furthermore, the position requires performing plumbing installations, repairs, and maintenance to ensure compliance with safety standards. Accurate inventory management, including physical checks and database maintenance, along with the proper disposal of assets according to WFP guidelines, is crucial. Reporting on undertaken work, services rendered, and materials used, including generator fuel logs, is essential for accurate accounting and future planning. Technical guidance to external contractors and assisting supervisors in evaluating repair work, comparing material costs, and planning future maintenance also fall under the scope of this role, all aimed at achieving efficient and cost-effective site services.
Work Experience
Requires at least three years of similar experience in site maintenance procedures and record-keeping, plus one year of experience at the G-2 level or equivalent. Must have knowledge of machine operation, cleaning equipment/products, and safety precautions. Ability to multitask, manage workload efficiently, maintain accurate records, and work in a multicultural team is essential.
