Job Purpose
The Supply Chain Officer will provide strategic and operational leadership for integrated supply chain operations in Lebanon, encompassing Procurement, Logistics, and Food Safety & Quality (FSQ). This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of WFP's assistance, aligning with corporate standards and country objectives. The incumbent will oversee end-to-end logistics, including storage, transport, and distribution, manage service providers, and ensure robust planning and performance monitoring. Key responsibilities include maintaining compliance, managing risks, safeguarding food quality, and fostering strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to effectively support programme delivery and beneficiary needs in a dynamic operational environment.
Responsibilities
The Supply Chain Officer is responsible for developing and implementing supply chain plans and procedures aligned with global strategies to ensure operational efficiency, reliability, and quality. This involves contributing to country context analyses, managing end-to-end supply chain and retail networks, and planning operations in cooperation with stakeholders. The role requires performing detailed analyses, generating reports on improvement opportunities, and conducting financial analysis and budget reviews to optimize resource utilization. Building and maintaining partnerships with internal and external counterparts, including government, UN agencies, NGOs, and the private sector, is crucial for an integrated supply chain approach and coordinated operations. The officer provides technical input for market analysis and network mapping to enhance supply chain performance. They support the management of supply chain operations, ensuring compliance with policies, quality control, loss prevention, risk mitigation, and cost-effectiveness. This includes monitoring activities, managing service providers, and preparing timely reports for decision-making. The officer also guides and supervises staff, contributes to emergency preparedness, and supports rapid response deployment. Specific duties include leading the Supply Chain Unit with a focus on logistics, overseeing end-to-end logistics operations (storage, transport, distribution, warehousing, fleet), and managing logistics service providers. Ensuring effective planning processes, robust performance monitoring, compliance with regulations, and maintaining food safety and quality standards are also key responsibilities. Coordination with partners and ensuring readiness for emergency response are integral to the role.
Work Experience
Requires at least three years of postgraduate professional experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related fields.
