The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian organization, dedicated to saving lives and building a pathway to peace and prosperity. This Senior IT Operations Associate position is based in the Algiers Country Office, supporting operations in Algeria and Tindouf. The role reports to the MSD & Finance Officer and is crucial for ensuring reliable technology support in a complex humanitarian setting.
Job Purpose
The Senior IT Operations Associate will lead and strengthen IT service delivery to ensure reliable and secure technology support for WFP's humanitarian operations in Algeria. This role is pivotal in enabling effective programme implementation, particularly in complex and remote settings. The incumbent will manage and coordinate a team of IT support staff, including their capacity building, and provide training and advice to end-users. Responsibilities include overseeing system and hardware maintenance, developing documentation and equipment for staff use, managing the implementation of new applications, and collaborating with IT service delivery groups to develop integrated support services. The role also involves analyzing data, supporting report development, and implementing IT service improvement plans, while adhering to emergency response processes to ensure critical food assistance needs are met.
Responsibilities
The Senior IT Operations Associate is responsible for leading and strengthening IT service delivery to ensure reliable and secure technology support for WFP's humanitarian operations. This includes managing and coordinating a team of IT support staff, focusing on their capacity building to meet objectives in compliance with regulations. The role involves providing training and advice to end-users, resolving IT issues, and ensuring the correct application of IT policies, procedures, systems, and tools. Key responsibilities also include overseeing the maintenance of systems and hardware, developing and deploying IT documentation and equipment, and managing the implementation of new standard applications to equip WFP staff with necessary tools. The associate will collaborate with IT service delivery groups to understand needs and develop integrated IT support services. Additionally, they will provide user support, log and analyze support requests, and contribute to the development and implementation of IT service delivery plans and process improvements. This role also requires adherence to emergency response processes to support critical food assistance needs.
