Job Purpose
The Driver (SC-2) will provide essential transportation services for WFP staff, including senior officials and authorized personnel, ensuring safe and efficient movement. This role involves meticulous maintenance of assigned vehicles, accurate record-keeping through logbooks, and prompt reporting of mechanical status. The incumbent will also support fleet management by ensuring vehicles are well-equipped and compliant with safety regulations, and will assist in planning efficient routes. Beyond driving, the position offers administrative support, including processing documentation for vehicle registration and insurance, assisting with protocol matters, and performing general office tasks such as filing, mail handling, and data entry to ensure smooth administrative operations within the Management Services Unit.
Responsibilities
The Driver & Business Support Assistant role at WFP involves providing essential driving services and administrative support to the Management Services Unit. Key responsibilities include safely transporting WFP staff, senior officials, and authorized personnel, ensuring adherence to UN safety and security regulations, and facilitating basic translation when needed. The role also entails meticulous maintenance of vehicle logbooks, daily reporting on vehicle status, and ensuring the assigned vehicle is kept clean, well-maintained, and fully equipped. Planning efficient routes, managing fuel consumption, and adhering to diplomatic premises protocols are crucial. Furthermore, the assistant will serve as the focal point for the Fleet Management System (FMS), accurately entering vehicle data, and processing documentation for vehicle insurance, registration, and permits. In terms of administrative support, the role includes assisting with protocol matters, performing general office tasks such as filing and photocopying, supporting asset management through tracking and verification, and undertaking data entry. Processing and tracking documentation for protocol, government clearances, fleet, and asset management are also key duties, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and local regulations. The position requires a proactive approach to maintaining operational efficiency and supporting the smooth functioning of administrative services.
