Job Purpose
The Programme Associate Nutrition (SC6) will provide specialized technical, analytical, and coordination support for the implementation of nutrition programmes in Algeria, including in-kind and cash-based transfer (CBT) interventions. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective, efficient, and accountable delivery of assistance aligned with WFP standards. The incumbent will support programme implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, bridging technical modality management with field-level execution. Key responsibilities include managing beneficiary data platforms, conducting community-level nutrition monitoring, and ensuring compliance with criteria for prevention and treatment initiatives. The role involves assisting in programme design, partner identification, integration of nutrition-sensitive CBT, and regular field visits to verify commodity delivery and track nutritional status. The Programme Associate will also be responsible for data compilation, analysis, reporting, and managing programmatic data in WFP systems like SCOPE and COMET, ensuring accurate setup and maintenance of beneficiary lists and resolving field-level issues related to digital payments.
Responsibilities
The Programme Associate Nutrition role involves providing specialized technical, analytical, and coordination support for the implementation of nutrition programs, including both in-kind and cash-based transfer (CBT) interventions. This position ensures the effective, efficient, and accountable delivery of assistance in alignment with World Food Programme (WFP) standards. Key responsibilities include supporting the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive programs. The role requires expertise in beneficiary data platforms and community-level nutrition monitoring, bridging technical modality management with field-level implementation. The Associate will assist in designing and rolling out targeted nutrition programs like Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) and Social and Behavior Change (SBC) initiatives, and facilitate the integration of nutrition-sensitive CBTs. They will conduct field visits to verify commodity delivery and monitor beneficiary nutritional status, as well as CBT processes. Data management is crucial, involving compiling, analyzing, and interpreting program data, tracking key indicators, and preparing reports. The Associate will manage and verify programmatic data in WFP systems like SCOPE and COMET, ensuring accurate setup and maintenance of beneficiary lists and resolving field-level issues related to digital CBT payments. Coordination involves reviewing distribution plans and partner reports, preparing activity progress reports, and participating in relevant forums. The role also emphasizes integrating gender, protection, and accountability to affected populations (AAP) in program design and implementation, and supporting community feedback mechanisms.
Work Experience
Requires at least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in programme implementation. Experience in nutrition programming and/or cash-based transfer (CBT) interventions is strongly desirable. Experience working with NGOs and in humanitarian contexts is an asset.
