Job Purpose
The Programme Assistant (CP Management/Gender) will provide crucial support to the Programme Unit in Tindouf, Algeria, under the direct supervision of the Programme Policy Officer. This role is instrumental in ensuring the effective implementation of WFP's humanitarian assistance programs, with a particular focus on managing cooperating partner (CP) relationships and mainstreaming cross-cutting themes such as gender, protection, inclusion, and accountability to affected populations (AAP). The incumbent will be responsible for tracking partnership agreements, food and cash distributions, and beneficiary data within the COMET platform, as well as supporting the integration of PSEA considerations and managing the complaint and feedback mechanism. This position contributes to strengthening CP capacity on these themes and ensuring that WFP's interventions uphold humanitarian standards and promote women's empowerment.
Responsibilities
The Programme Assistant (CP Management/Gender) role at the World Food Programme (WFP) involves crucial support for effective programme implementation, particularly in managing partnerships and integrating cross-cutting priorities. The position contributes to the full Cooperating Partner (CP) management cycle, from initial expressions of interest and proposal reviews to Field Level Agreements (FLAs), reporting, and closure. This includes ensuring timely and accurate tracking of partnership data, food and cash distributions, and beneficiary information within the WFP COMET platform. A key responsibility is mainstreaming gender, protection, inclusion, and Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) across all programme activities. This involves supporting assessments, community engagement, and awareness activities, and integrating PSEA considerations. The role also acts as a focal point for the complaint and feedback mechanism, contributing to its management and reporting. The Programme Assistant will conduct field visits to monitor the integration and effectiveness of these cross-cutting themes, ensuring data is accurately captured and issues are escalated. They will also compile data to support operational decision-making and report on best practices and weaknesses. The position requires strong database management, analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, with a good understanding of gender equality and women's empowerment workstreams. The role is vital for ensuring WFP's humanitarian assistance is delivered effectively and accountably, aligning with WFP policies and standards.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in Humanitarian and Development programming, including cross-cutting themes. Additionally, at least five years of progressively responsible experience is needed in programme support, partnerships, or humanitarian/development operations.
