Job Purpose
The Senior Programme Assistant will support the strategic planning, implementation, and monitoring of productive projects and value chains in the Amazonas department. Key responsibilities include conducting technical-productive diagnostics, developing strengthening plans, supporting investment plans, designing and implementing training programs, and facilitating market access for producers.
Responsibilities
The Senior Programme Assistant will be responsible for supporting the strategic planning, implementation, and monitoring of productive projects and value chains in the Amazonas department. This includes providing technical assistance and guidance to selected groups, focusing on livelihoods, socio-productive aspects, markets, and improving production practices for initiatives like the "Tejidos de Sustento y Vida" project and other WFP-led efforts in Colombia. The role involves conducting technical-productive diagnostics and developing strengthening plans for assigned organizations. Key responsibilities include assisting in the design of investment plans, creating and implementing training plans with a focus on technical-production, climate change resilience, and adaptation, and conducting field visits to guide improvements in production practices. The assistant will also design and implement tools for collecting technical-productive information, support the monitoring of productive projects, facilitate linkages with private sector actors and local markets, and provide technical guidance for certification and registration processes. Furthermore, the role requires supporting market dynamics analysis, strengthening partner capacities, integrating sustainability and gender approaches, and preparing periodic progress reports. The position is based in Leticia, Amazonas, with travel to other project areas, and reports to the Value Chain Senior Programme Associate.
Work Experience
Requires 5 years of professional experience in formulating, implementing, and monitoring productive projects or value chains, particularly those related to Amazonian fruits, fariña, medicinal plants, or climate-smart, biodiversity-friendly agri-food value chains. This includes experience in livelihood strategies and income generation linked to productive, economic strengthening, and food security. Additionally, at least 3 years of specific experience in technical assistance and strengthening rural or community productive organizations for market access or inclusive business models is necessary.
