Job Purpose
The Senior Programme Associate will play a crucial role in advancing the implementation of disability inclusion priorities and actions within WFP Colombia. The role requires designing and delivering training modules on disability inclusion, accessibility standards, and rights-based approaches for WFP staff, partners, and government counterparts. Additionally, the Associate will provide technical advice to integrate disability inclusion into national protection and social policy dialogues, support inter-agency coordination, and systematize inclusion practices by documenting program adaptations and generating guidance notes to eliminate barriers for persons with disabilities in key program areas such as school feeding and cash transfers.
Responsibilities
The role involves coordinating the update and implementation of the Action Plan for Disability Inclusion in Colombia, ensuring participatory consultation with persons with disabilities and their organizations, and alignment with the WFP Strategic Plan. Key responsibilities include designing and delivering training modules on disability inclusion, accessibility standards, and rights-based approaches for WFP staff, partners, and government counterparts. The position requires providing technical advice to integrate disability inclusion into national protection and social policy dialogues, positioning WFP as a leader in inclusive food security and resilience. It also entails supporting inter-agency coordination with UN partners and government counterparts to harmonize disability inclusion approaches. Furthermore, the role involves systematizing disability inclusion practices in Colombia by synthesizing data and documenting program adaptations for persons with disabilities. This includes generating guidance notes and technical recommendations to adapt core program areas like school feeding, cash transfers, and emergency response to remove barriers for persons with disabilities. The position also supports monitoring progress against indicators, identifying gaps, proposing corrective actions, conducting diagnostics on WFP's service delivery for persons with disabilities, and implementing recommendations for reasonable accommodations in field offices. Additionally, it supports the Gender Equality Certification Programme (GECP) within the disability component. Regionally, the role will support the deployment of the Disability Inclusion Roadmap through technical assistance, capacity building, and evidence generation, guiding national offices in operationalizing UNDIS commitments and facilitating knowledge sharing through webinars and workshops.
Work Experience
Requires at least 7 years of postgraduate professional experience in relevant fields, including prior experience in program design and/or implementation. Additionally, at least 4 years of progressively responsible professional experience is needed in disability inclusion within development or humanitarian assistance contexts.
