Job Purpose

The Data Science Officer will strengthen WFP Haiti's capacity to collect, manage, analyze, visualize, and communicate operational data effectively. This role is crucial in supporting evidence-based decision-making within a complex humanitarian crisis characterized by food insecurity, displacement, and security challenges. The officer will develop and maintain information management systems, dashboards, and analytical tools, ensuring data quality and contributing to data science initiatives. Key responsibilities include supporting operational planning, monitoring, reporting, and risk anticipation through timely and accurate data products, ultimately enhancing WFP's ability to provide accountable assistance to vulnerable populations in Haiti.

Responsibilities

The Data Science Officer in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, plays a crucial role in strengthening the World Food Programme's (WFP) capacity to manage, analyze, and communicate operational data. This position supports WFP Haiti's mission to provide timely and reliable information for operational planning, prioritization, targeting, monitoring, and decision-making amidst a complex humanitarian crisis. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining information management systems, dashboards, and analytical tools to support evidence-based decision-making across various WFP units and field offices. The officer will ensure data quality assurance, maintain datasets and code repositories, and document methodologies for reproducibility. A significant part of the role involves designing and implementing data science and automation projects to address operational needs, such as targeting, vulnerability analysis, and reporting automation. This includes performing geospatial analyses and providing technical support and capacity building to colleagues and partners on data management and visualization tools. The ultimate goal is to enhance WFP Haiti's ability to generate a common operational picture, monitor progress, communicate results effectively, anticipate risks, and ensure accountable, data-informed assistance to vulnerable populations.

Work Experience

Requires at least two years of relevant experience in data management and/or data analytics.
