Job Purpose

The Security/Access Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the WFP sub-office in Miragoane, Haiti, by implementing and reinforcing security and humanitarian access strategies. This position is essential for ensuring WFP can effectively deliver assistance to vulnerable populations amidst challenging security conditions, including gang violence and infrastructure blockages. The incumbent will contribute to refining operational modalities, supporting access tactics, and conducting proactive information gathering to inform decision-making. They will also assist in local security analysis, risk assessment, and coordination with security teams to integrate access concerns into strategic planning. Responsibilities

The Security/Access Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring humanitarian access in complex and conflict-affected areas, particularly in Haiti where the security situation has deteriorated. This position supports the World Food Programme (WFP) in implementing access and security strategies, enabling the organization to deliver aid effectively and safely to vulnerable populations. Key responsibilities include contributing to operational modalities for rapid response, supporting the development of access and negotiation tactics, and collecting vital information from various stakeholders to inform decision-making. The assistant will also contribute to local security analysis, identifying risks that could impact humanitarian access, and maintaining real-time communication of critical security information. Furthermore, the role involves coordinating closely with the security team to integrate access concerns into risk analyses and strategic decisions, conducting route and operational area assessments, and fostering relationships with local authorities, humanitarian actors, and security agencies. This includes engaging in negotiations with law enforcement and community leaders to secure WFP operations. The assistant will also support the documentation of access meetings, contribute to periodic analyses and reports, and maintain an updated map of key actors and operational zones. Work Experience

Requires at least 4 years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian access, security management, and community relations within conflict-affected environments.
