Job Purpose

The Monitoring Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting WFP's operations in Haiti by ensuring the effective implementation and monitoring of food assistance programs. This position involves direct engagement with beneficiaries, partners, and communities to gather vital information on food aid delivery, program activities, implementation challenges, and beneficiary feedback. The Assistant will conduct field visits to distribution sites and project locations, verify program adherence, identify issues, and provide immediate support or escalate concerns. A key responsibility will be to collect, analyze, and report on data related to food distribution, asset creation, and other program activities, contributing to the overall monitoring and evaluation framework. The role also involves supporting capacity building for cooperating partners and fostering community participation, ensuring that WFP's assistance effectively reaches and benefits the intended populations while upholding organizational standards and objectives.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities involve the monitoring and evaluation of World Food Programme (WFP) activities. This includes conducting targeted and random site visits to distribution points, health centers, and asset construction sites to verify program implementation, identify issues such as fraud or irregularities, and assess progress. The role requires direct intervention during visits to provide necessary support, explain best practices, and clarify program objectives. Accurate and confidential completion of monitoring questionnaires and reports is essential, ensuring high-quality data collection. The position also entails tracking the movement of food supplies from delivery to distribution, ensuring adherence to established plans, agreements, and WFP procedures. This involves collecting information through physical counts, observation, and interviews with beneficiaries and cooperating partners. Furthermore, the role supports capacity building for partners and communities through on-site assistance, training, and feedback. It also involves supervising and executing various surveys, including baseline, outcome, and food security assessments. Reporting responsibilities include active participation in action planning, regular reporting of field findings to program and M&E teams, and contributing to the improvement of data collection tools. Finally, the role provides support in data entry, quality control, and analysis for program databases.

Work Experience

Requires at least four years of experience in a role related to monitoring and evaluation, field data collection, or humanitarian project implementation.
