Job Purpose
The Logistics Associate (Information Management - GIS) will support the information needs of the humanitarian logistics community by managing, analyzing, visualizing, and disseminating data. This role is crucial for enabling informed operational decision-making throughout the response cycle. The associate will be responsible for creating and updating essential information products such as situation reports, maps, and dashboards, ensuring data-driven planning and effective coordination. They will also maintain and update logistics-related information on platforms like LogIE GIS, identify methodologies for data gathering and mapping, and provide regular updates on logistics bottlenecks and supply chain disruptions to stakeholders. This position contributes directly to the Logistics Cluster's mission of facilitating access to common logistics services and ensuring the efficient delivery of humanitarian aid.
Responsibilities
The Information Management/GIS Assistant supports the Logistics Cluster's mission by managing, analyzing, visualizing, and disseminating data to aid humanitarian logistics. Key responsibilities include creating and updating various information products such as situation reports, maps, dashboards, and operational overviews, adhering to WFP and Logistics Cluster standards. This role involves collecting and analyzing logistics-related data, monitoring key indicators, and maintaining the LogIE GIS platform with up-to-date information on access constraints and infrastructure. The assistant will also contribute to WFP and OCHA reporting, identify data gathering methodologies, and engage with partners to understand their information needs. Furthermore, they will manage contact lists, supplier databases, and website content, while upholding information management standards. Participation in relevant working groups and supporting capacity-building efforts for partners on logistics information management are also crucial. The role requires ensuring that logistics data and information are systematically processed and disseminated through high-quality products, ultimately supporting informed operational decision-making and effective humanitarian assistance delivery.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of six years of experience in the humanitarian sector, data analysis, public relations, or communications. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and geospatial software like Esri ArcGIS is necessary. The role demands strong written and analytical skills, the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, good communication, and multitasking capabilities. Familiarity with logistics operations and humanitarian reform concepts is also beneficial. Willingness to work in challenging field locations is essential.
