Job Purpose
The Logistics Officer (NOA) in Jordan will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing essential logistics functions to support WFP's operations. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries, particularly vulnerable refugees in Jordan and supporting regional humanitarian efforts. The incumbent will oversee warehouse operations, inventory management, and retail activities, ensuring compliance with WFP standards and Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) guidelines. This position contributes to an integrated supply chain approach, supporting operational continuity and optimizing resource utilization. The role also involves data analysis for performance improvement, contributing to reporting, and supporting capacity building for staff and partners, all while maintaining strong relationships with logistics colleagues and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
The Logistics Officer is responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of logistics plans and processes, ensuring adherence to WFP standards and policies. This role involves supporting daily logistics operations and projects to facilitate the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries. Key duties include coordinating Supply Chain CBT and retail activities, such as market assessments, retailer contracting, performance management, and payment reconciliation, all while maintaining compliance with WFP standards. The officer will oversee warehouse operations and inventory management, encompassing stock planning, receipt, storage, and dispatch, ensuring precise record-keeping and timely availability of commodities. Furthermore, the role supports the implementation of WFP's Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) guidelines, aligning with broader supply chain strategies. Responsibilities also extend to collecting and analyzing data to recommend operational improvements, conducting financial analysis and budget reviews to optimize fund utilization, and guiding support staff. The officer contributes to accurate and timely reporting, supports capacity building for WFP staff and partners, and fosters productive relationships within the logistics team for an integrated approach. Finally, the role requires adherence to emergency logistics preparedness practices and acting in an emergency response capacity as needed to meet critical food assistance requirements.
Work Experience
The role requires over five years of experience in food safety, quality, procurement, logistics, or supply chain management, with at least one year of hands-on professional experience. Desired experiences include coordinating service providers, arranging supplier deliveries, supporting supply chain strategy, and familiarity with food safety protocols and supply chain information systems.
