This Security Associate position is based in Cap Haitien, Haiti, within a country office. The role supports the Head of Security in implementing and evaluating security measures to ensure the safety of personnel, facilities, and operations.
Job Purpose
The Security Associate G6 will be responsible for implementing and evaluating security measures and maintaining equipment to provide critical information and recommendations for informed decision-making, thereby ensuring the safety of WFP personnel, facilities, and operations in Cap Haitien, Haiti. This role involves reviewing security threats and risks, preparing accurate reports on evolving issues, and analyzing security information using institutional tools. The Associate will liaunt with local authorities, UN security personnel, and NGOs to facilitate program access and mitigate risks. Key responsibilities include planning field mission activities, conducting security assessments, analyzing assessment reports, and providing detailed risk mitigation recommendations. The position also supports advising the Country Director on security risk management, implementing MOSS, managing security equipment, and ensuring effective access control procedures. Furthermore, the role involves developing and updating emergency preparedness plans and delivering security training to staff.
Responsibilities
The Security Associate role involves implementing and evaluating security measures and equipment maintenance to ensure the safety of personnel, facilities, and World Food Programme (WFP) operations. Key responsibilities include analyzing security threats and risks, producing accurate reports on emerging issues, and coordinating with local authorities, UN security staff, and NGOs to facilitate safe program access and mitigate risks. The role also entails planning and coordinating field mission activities, conducting security assessments, and providing detailed recommendations for risk mitigation. Additionally, the Security Associate will advise country directors on security risk management, assist in implementing risk management measures and Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS), and manage security equipment, recommending enhancements. They will also ensure strict adherence to access control procedures, develop and update emergency preparedness plans, and conduct security training for staff, while supervising and training other team members. This position requires a strong understanding of security logistics, risk assessment, and emergency response procedures, along with excellent communication and analytical skills.
Work Experience
A minimum of six years of experience in a related field is required.
