Job Purpose
The Security Assistant will provide essential support to security operations within their designated area of responsibility. This role involves monitoring and maintaining security equipment in compliance with established procedures. The incumbent will assist in assessing security threats and risks, gathering factual information to support reporting and decision-making. A key function is liaising with local authorities, UN security personnel, NGOs, and communities to ensure safe program access and mitigate risks to staff and resources. The assistant will also help coordinate and conduct field missions, track personnel movements, and perform regular security assessments to ensure the safe and effective implementation of WFP programs. Contributing to security reports, managing incident information, and ensuring compliance with Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS) are also critical aspects of this position.
Responsibilities
The Security Assistant role supports security operations by monitoring and maintaining security equipment in compliance with established procedures. Key responsibilities include assisting in the assessment of security threats and risks, gathering factual information to aid decision-making, and liaising with local authorities, UN security personnel, NGOs, and communities to ensure safe program access and mitigate risks to staff and resources. The role involves coordinating and preparing field missions, tracking personnel movements, and conducting regular security assessments to ensure safe and effective program implementation. Additionally, the Security Assistant contributes to periodic security reports, manages information on serious security incidents, and ensures relevant databases are updated. They assist in implementing risk management measures, including Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS), and help control security equipment inventories and maintenance. The position also involves ensuring effective access control procedures are followed, contributing to emergency response and preparedness plans, and assisting in staff training needs and supervising security guards. This role requires a secondary education, at least four years of experience in security procedures, and fluency in English and French.

A minimum of four years of experience is required, along with proven knowledge of security procedures applicable to daily activities.
