Partnerships Officer
Organizational Context
This position is based in the Nicaragua Country Office (CO) and reports to the Representative and Country Director. The role involves day-to-day partnerships activities and research, engaging with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders including governments, UN agencies, corporations, and foundations to advance WFP's mission.
Job Purpose
The Partnerships Officer will facilitate senior staff efforts to strategically position WFP with public, private, and external partners. The primary objective is to attract crucial policy support, resources, and innovative solutions that advance WFP's work, while simultaneously supporting member states in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Zero Hunger. This role is instrumental in strengthening WFP's partnerships portfolio, identifying new opportunities, leveraging data for partner engagement, and ensuring WFP's programmatic offerings are effectively communicated to maximize impact and diversify the resource base.
Responsibilities
The Partnerships Officer role involves facilitating senior staff efforts to strategically position the World Food Programme (WFP) with public, private, and external partners. This includes attracting policy support, securing resources, obtaining technical assistance, and identifying innovative solutions to advance WFP's mission and support member states in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Zero Hunger. The officer will implement work plans to identify, develop, and strengthen quality partnerships, proactively contributing to a partnerships portfolio through outreach and profiling to maximize resources and leverage support. They will utilize data analysis to present well-researched ideas for expanding support from existing partners and identifying new ones, aiming to enhance WFP's impact and diversify its resource base. This role requires gathering and presenting internal and external data to inform partner audiences about WFP's programmatic offerings and drafting briefs to highlight strategic issues for senior staff. Additionally, the officer will support the development of partnerships and joint events within the UN system and multilateral forums to advocate for SDGs and Zero Hunger, contribute to partnership strategies and action plans, and draft quality partner proposals and reports. The position also involves supporting senior managers in preparing strategic agreements and MOUs, contributing to preparedness actions, and providing technical recommendations. A key aspect of this specific role is the supervision of reporting, communications, and monitoring and evaluation functions, requiring strong leadership and team management skills.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in partnership roles. This includes developing effective partner relationships, exploring opportunities for scaling activities, researching new ventures, and creating compelling narratives through data analysis and visualization. Experience in preparing resource-raising briefs, managing contributions, and providing technical support to enhance partnerships is also valued. A basic understanding of government strategies and contributing to an inclusive work environment are beneficial.
