Job Purpose

The Logistics Assistant will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate management of warehouse operations. This includes the timely receipt, correct stacking, and precise dispatch of partners' cargo, maintaining zero discrepancies in handling and documentation. The role involves supporting quality control measures for commodities, maintaining accurate inventory records, and conducting regular stock inspections. The Assistant will also ensure the warehouse adheres to high standards of cleanliness, safety, and security. Furthermore, they will provide excellent customer service to partners, maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, and supervise warehouse support staff during loading and offloading operations. This position is crucial for the smooth functioning of Logistics Cluster operations and ensuring effective humanitarian assistance delivery.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities involve meticulous management of warehouse operations, ensuring the timely and accurate receipt, stacking, and dispatch of partners' cargo with a focus on maintaining zero discrepancies in both handling and documentation. This includes implementing measures to safeguard commodity quality through preventive actions and adhering to established procedures. Maintaining precise and complete records of all cargo is crucial for data integrity and audit purposes. Regular stock inspections are required to verify the condition and quantity of goods, ensuring compliance with storage requirements. The role also entails assisting in periodic physical inventories and maintaining the warehouse to high standards of cleanliness, safety, and security. Providing excellent customer service to Logistics Cluster partners by promptly addressing requests and ensuring efficient cargo handling is essential. Effective collaboration with WFP colleagues and external stakeholders is key. Furthermore, the position requires supervising warehouse staff, including storekeepers and porters, to ensure safe and accurate loading/unloading operations. Ensuring all warehouse documentation is complete and up-to-date, applying sound logistics knowledge, and performing other related duties as assigned by the supervisor are also integral parts of the role.

Work Experience

Requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in warehouse or logistics operations. Must possess the ability to manage warehouse operations and stock control. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with a client-oriented and service-focused approach. The candidate should be capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
