Job Purpose
The Storekeeper is responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate management of warehouse operations, including the receipt, stacking, and dispatch of commodities. This role involves maintaining zero discrepancies in cargo handling and documentation, implementing measures to safeguard commodity quality, and conducting regular stock inspections. The Storekeeper will maintain precise records, ensure the warehouse adheres to high standards of cleanliness, safety, and security, and provide excellent customer service to partners. Additionally, the Storekeeper will supervise warehouse assistants and porters, ensuring safe and accurate loading/offloading operations and maintaining complete and up-to-date warehouse documentation. This position is crucial for supporting effective humanitarian assistance delivery.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities involve meticulous management of warehouse operations, focusing on the timely receipt, accurate stacking, and efficient dispatch of partners' cargo, aiming for zero discrepancies in handling and documentation. This includes implementing measures to safeguard commodity quality through preventive actions and maintaining comprehensive, accurate records for data integrity and audit purposes. Regular stock inspections are crucial to verify the condition and quantity of goods, ensuring compliance with storage requirements. The role also entails assisting in periodic physical inventories and maintaining the warehouse to high standards of cleanliness, safety, and security. Providing high-quality customer service to Logistics Cluster partners by responding promptly to requests and ensuring smooth cargo handling is essential. Effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders are key to efficient operations. Furthermore, the position requires supervising warehouse assistants, storekeepers, checkers, guards, and porters, providing guidance during loading and offloading to ensure safety and accuracy. Ensuring all warehouse documentation is complete, accurate, and up-to-date, applying sound logistics knowledge and best practices, is a core duty. The role may also involve performing other related tasks assigned by the supervisor to support overall Logistics Cluster operations.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in warehouse or logistics operations. Must possess the ability to manage warehouse operations and stock control. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with a client-oriented and service-focused approach. The candidate should be capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
