Job Purpose
The Programme Associate (VAM and M&E) will provide specialized technical and analytical support to the Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping (VAM) Unit in Guinea-Bissau. This role is critical for ensuring data-driven decision-making, accountability, and performance monitoring across WFP's interventions. The associate will contribute to the development, implementation, and review of programme activities, ensuring alignment with WFP policies and the Country Strategic Plan. Key responsibilities include preparing and quality-checking reports, managing and analyzing quantitative datasets, developing data visualizations and maps, and supporting monitoring and evaluation frameworks. The position also involves liaising with stakeholders, providing technical guidance to field teams, and contributing to knowledge management and emergency preparedness efforts, ultimately supporting the achievement of expected results and operational continuity.
Responsibilities
The Programme Associate for Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping (VAM) and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) plays a crucial role in supporting the World Food Programme's (WFP) Country Strategic Plan in Guinea-Bissau. This position provides specialized technical and analytical support to ensure data-driven decision-making across all WFP interventions. Key responsibilities include supporting the development and implementation of programme activities, tracking progress, and preparing reports on food security, vulnerability, and programme performance. The associate will also be involved in data analysis, GIS, and information management, contributing to needs assessments, surveys, and vulnerability assessments. This involves managing, cleaning, and interpreting quantitative datasets, as well as maintaining VAM and M&E databases. Furthermore, the role supports the implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks, tracking indicators, and identifying risks. Coordination with internal units, field teams, partners, and government counterparts is essential for effective data collection and reporting. The associate will also provide technical guidance to field staff, support knowledge management, and contribute to emergency preparedness and response activities by conducting rapid assessments and data analysis during crises. The position requires strong analytical skills, experience with data visualization tools, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Work Experience
Requires at least six years of progressively responsible experience in areas such as programme support, data analysis, monitoring and evaluation, or related functions.
