Job Purpose
The Storekeeper will be responsible for managing the receipt, dispatch, and verification of commodities to ensure optimal warehouse operations and minimize losses. This role involves maintaining high standards of storage and handling in compliance with WFP guidelines. The Storekeeper will prepare and verify all necessary documentation, conduct regular inventory checks, and report on stock discrepancies or damages. They will implement measures to safeguard commodities, maintain accurate records in WFP systems, and assist in physical inventories. Additionally, the Storekeeper will monitor warehouse conditions, provide guidance to warehouse staff, and collaborate with various stakeholders to support efficient logistics and service delivery, including monitoring retail partner warehouses.
Responsibilities
The storekeeper's primary responsibility is to manage the receipt, dispatch, and storage of commodities, ensuring accuracy in physical counts and quality compliance with established standards. This involves meticulously preparing, verifying, and maintaining warehouse and transport documents, as well as accurate transaction records for timely reporting of commodity movements. Daily reconciliation and inventory checks are crucial for supporting internal control systems. The storekeeper must conduct regular inspections, report on commodity quantity and quality, analyze stock discrepancies or damages, and investigate missing items to prepare loss reports with recommended solutions. Safeguarding commodities through appropriate preventive measures and quality control is essential. Maintaining updated records in stock registers and corporate systems, assisting with physical inventories, and monitoring warehouse conditions for efficient space planning and organized storage are also key duties. Furthermore, the storekeeper provides guidance and training to warehouse staff, ensures good warehousing practices like cleanliness and pest control, and collaborates with various stakeholders to support logistics and enhance service delivery. This role also involves monitoring retail partner warehouses and providing capacity-building training.
Work Experience
Requires at least 4 years of progressive experience in a relevant field, with a minimum of two years specifically in commodity handling or warehousing. A Bachelor's degree is mandatory, and education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or Social Science is preferred.
