Job Purpose
The Communications Officer (Social Media Content Specialist) will be responsible for collecting, creating, and curating engaging digital content, including video, photos, graphics, and copy, for WFP Afghanistan's social media platforms. This role involves managing social media accounts, maintaining a content calendar aligned with organizational priorities, and leveraging the unique strengths of each platform. The specialist will capture compelling visuals from the field, develop case studies, script and produce multimedia content, and ensure all content adheres to WFP branding, visibility, and ethical guidelines, protecting the dignity of beneficiaries. Additionally, the role includes conducting social listening, monitoring online conversations, and analyzing engagement data to inform social media strategy and identify emerging trends and risks.
Responsibilities
The Social Media & Content Specialist for WFP Afghanistan is responsible for creating and curating digital content, including video, photos, and graphics, for the organization's social media platforms. This role involves managing social media accounts, maintaining a content calendar aligned with organizational priorities, and leveraging the unique strengths of each platform. Key duties include capturing field content, developing case studies, scripting and producing multimedia content tailored for social media, and creating content packages for donors. The specialist must understand and translate organizational messages into engaging social-friendly content, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and stay updated on content trends. Adherence to WFP branding, visibility, and ethical guidelines, particularly concerning beneficiary protection and dignity, is crucial. Additionally, the role requires conducting social listening and monitoring to track conversations, measure engagement, identify risks, and inform the social media strategy. Graphic design for social media, reports, and presentations is also a significant responsibility, ensuring visual consistency and clear communication of WFP's impact.
Work Experience
Requires at least one year of postgraduate professional experience in social media content creation and platform management.
