Job Purpose
The Partnerships Officer will support senior staff in strategically positioning WFP with public, private, and external partners to secure policy support, resources, and innovative solutions. This role is crucial for advancing WFP's strategic objectives, supporting member states in achieving SDGs and Zero Hunger, and enhancing WFP's impact. The incumbent will proactively contribute to the partnerships portfolio through research, outreach, and profile development, aiming to maximize resources and leverage technical assistance. They will utilize data analysis to identify new partnership opportunities and strengthen existing relationships, ensuring WFP's programmatic offerings are effectively communicated. The role involves drafting briefs, proposals, and reports, and supporting the development of strategic agreements and MOUs to influence policy agendas and achieve advantageous outcomes for WFP.
Responsibilities
The Partnerships Officer role at WFP involves facilitating senior staff's efforts to strategically position the organization with public, private, and external partners. This includes attracting policy support, resources, technical assistance, and innovative solutions to advance WFP's mission and support member states in achieving the SDGs and Zero Hunger. Key responsibilities include implementing work plans to identify, develop, and strengthen partnerships, proactively contributing to a partnerships portfolio through outreach and profiling, and maximizing resources and support. The role requires using data to identify new partner opportunities and expand support from existing ones, enhancing WFP's impact and diversifying its resource base. It also involves gathering and presenting internal and external data to inform WFP's positioning with national governments and international institutions to influence policy agendas. The officer will support the development of partnerships and joint events within the UN system and multilateral fora to advocate for SDGs and Zero Hunger, and contribute to partnership strategies, action plans, proposals, and reports. Additionally, the role supports senior managers in preparing strategic agreements and MOUs, and contributes to preparedness actions by providing technical recommendations and monitoring risks. Functional capabilities include prospecting new partners, managing and strengthening partner relationships, resource mobilization, analyzing and using data, and positioning WFP for partnerships.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in partnership roles. This includes understanding government strategies, building partner relationships, exploring new opportunities for scaling activities, and researching new prospects. Experience in developing narratives through data visualization for partner discussions, preparing resource-raising briefs, and managing contribution forecasts is also valued. Additionally, providing technical support, identifying service delivery improvements, and fostering a positive, inclusive work environment are beneficial.
