Job Purpose
The Programme Associate will directly support the Head of Programme in planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on Strategic Outcome 1 (Emergency) and Strategic Outcomes 4/5 (Resilience) activities in the Diffa region. This role involves managing operational aspects of emergency activities, including in-kind and cash distributions, rapid response mechanisms, and prolonged interventions, particularly in refugee camps. The Associate will facilitate coordination, track invoices and payments, and contribute to the continuity of RRM activities. For resilience, the role includes monitoring farm-to-market sites, supporting community committees, engaging farmer organizations, and tracking income-generating activities. The Associate will also contribute to risk prevention and climate action initiatives, reporting on household and site progress towards self-reliance and economic integration, ensuring activities align with WFP standards and contribute to the overall mission of saving lives and changing lives.
Responsibilities
The Programme Assistant will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of Strategic Outcome (SO)1 (Emergency) and SO4/5 (Resilience) activities in the Diffa region. This role involves managing operational aspects of emergency activities, including in-kind and cash distributions, rapid response mechanisms, and prolonged interventions, particularly in refugee camps. The assistant will facilitate coordination with the Country Office, support Third Party Monitoring missions, and manage the processing of invoices and payments related to emergency activities. They will also ensure data is accurately entered and updated in SCOPE, validate distribution and activity reports, and monitor partner implementation of SO1 activities. For resilience activities, the assistant will track Food-for-Assets (FFA) sites, identify those ready for economic development, and support community committees in site management and sustainability. They will also facilitate engagement with farmer organizations, monitor income-generating activities, and contribute to risk prevention and early warning systems. The role requires producing reports on site and household progress towards self-sufficiency, ensuring effective communication with local authorities and partners, and maintaining up-to-date and reliable program data.
Work Experience
Requires at least 6 years of experience, with 2 years specifically in humanitarian program management related to food and nutrition security in a humanitarian context. Experience with food/cash distribution activities is essential. Experience within the UN system is a plus.
