Job Purpose
The Logistics Planning Associate (G6) provides specialized support and may supervise staff in executing standard logistics and supply chain processes. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective delivery of goods and services across all operational modalities. Key responsibilities include coordinating requests, managing supplier contracts, supporting market intelligence gathering, and preparing/monitoring budgets. The associate will also oversee inventory management, analyze operational pipelines, and process necessary documentation for logistics operations. Furthermore, the role involves contributing to emergency preparedness, promoting innovative approaches, and ensuring accurate data management to support informed decision-making and the timely, efficient delivery of humanitarian assistance to beneficiaries.
Responsibilities
The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking a Logistics Associate to provide specialized support and potentially supervise staff in executing standard logistics and supply chain processes. Key responsibilities include ensuring the timely delivery of essential goods and supplies to authorized partners and destinations, managing the contracting and performance of logistics service providers, and supporting market intelligence gathering and vendor assessments. The role involves resolving specialized support requests with a strong customer service orientation, preparing and monitoring budgets for delivery operations, and overseeing inventory management to track stock from origin to final beneficiary. Additionally, the associate will support the quality and integrity of commodity accounting data, analyze operational pipelines, and contribute to operational planning. This includes managing necessary documentation for logistics operations, such as customs clearance and invoice verification, and resolving operational issues. The position also requires conducting research, data analysis, and report preparation to support informed decision-making, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and supervising support staff to ensure team objectives are met. A crucial aspect involves supporting emergency preparedness and response activities in logistics, including capacity assessments and contingency planning. The role also promotes innovative, data-driven approaches to logistics planning and execution, including the adoption of digital tools and analytical methods to enhance efficiency and decision-making in complex operational environments.
Work Experience
The role requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience. This includes experience in maintaining corporate systems, handling inquiries about ongoing shipments, pipeline information, and insurance claims. Additionally, experience in administering contracts with external service providers, compiling and executing contracts, and monitoring/reporting on budgets is necessary.
