Organizational Context
This position is based in Caracas, Venezuela, reporting to an IT Officer or Head of Unit. The role requires initiative and autonomy in handling complex queries with general guidance, exercising sound judgment for daily issues, and managing resources while instructing and coordinating support staff.
Job Purpose
The Information Technology Associate, Operations (G6) will coordinate and guide IT maintenance and support activities to ensure effective IT service delivery. This involves system and equipment maintenance, network supervision, system protection, and ensuring technology reliability. The role requires analyzing user needs, data, and producing reports to recommend IT solutions for informed decision-making. The incumbent will independently resolve IT queries, provide standard technical training to end-users, and offer guidance to junior colleagues on IT support services. Additionally, the role supports the coordination of new application implementations, the creation of standard technical documentation, and the enhancement of IT processes for continuous service improvement. Coordination of telecommunications systems and equipment installation/maintenance is also key, alongside managing an IT team to meet objectives in line with WFP policies.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities involve coordinating and guiding IT support and maintenance activities to ensure effective IT service delivery. This includes performing system and equipment maintenance, specialized network supervision, and system protection to guarantee optimal technology functionality. The role requires monitoring technology reliability, assessing user needs, analyzing data, and generating reports to recommend IT solutions for informed decision-making. It also entails resolving IT queries independently, escalating complex issues when necessary, and providing accurate information to staff. Additionally, the position involves delivering standard technical training to end-users, offering guidance and training to junior colleagues, and supporting the implementation of new applications. Responsibilities extend to drafting technical and end-user documentation, implementing process improvements within the IT department, and coordinating the installation and maintenance of telecommunication systems. Furthermore, the role includes managing an IT team to meet individual and collective objectives, adhering to emergency response procedures, maintaining asset control systems, and supporting the administrative management of IT-related services and acquisitions.
Work Experience
Requires at least six years of progressive work experience in the relevant field, including general administrative tasks. Experience in analyzing service management results, formulating recommendations for improvement, and participating in operational process reorganization is necessary. Additionally, experience in procurement and budgeting for country offices is required.
