Job Purpose
The (Surge) Programme Associate (Food Security and Agriculture Cluster sub-national Coordinator) will provide specialized coordination support and technical analysis for food security and agriculture cluster activities at the sub-national level. This role is crucial for ensuring effective food assistance needs are met by supporting the development and implementation of various activities, aligning with WFP's policies and guidelines. The incumbent will prepare reports, conduct data analysis on food assistance needs and programme status, and ensure accurate data recording. Key responsibilities include liaising with internal and external counterparts, including local partners, agencies, NGOs, and government institutions, to conduct food security analyses and ensure efficient delivery of assistance. The role also involves supporting capacity building for WFP staff and partners, acting as a point of contact for operational queries, and overseeing support staff to meet objectives. This position requires strong coordination, communication, and analytical skills to effectively manage and report on programme activities, particularly in challenging humanitarian contexts.
Responsibilities
The role involves providing comprehensive technical support and project management for food security programs, ensuring alignment with WFP's policies and guidelines. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing activities, preparing detailed reports and data analyses on food assistance needs, resource utilization, and program performance, and highlighting emerging trends. Accurate and timely data recording for assistance programs and vulnerability assessments is crucial, maintaining consistency for all stakeholders. The position requires effective liaison with internal teams and external partners such as local agencies, NGOs, and government institutions to facilitate collaboration, monitoring, and efficient food assistance delivery. A significant aspect of the role is supporting capacity-building initiatives for WFP staff, partners, and national governments. Additionally, the incumbent will act as a primary contact for resolving operational queries and problems, oversee and guide support staff to meet objectives, and adhere to emergency preparedness practices for rapid response. This includes performing other related duties as assigned to ensure the successful execution of food security objectives.
Work Experience
Requires at least six years of professional experience in coordination, communications, or working in humanitarian emergencies.
