Job Purpose
The Sustainable Food Systems Coordinator will lead the strategic direction and comprehensive monitoring of Sustainable Food Systems interventions in El Salvador. This role is crucial for ensuring coherence, quality, and impact by articulating technical, programmatic, and territorial levels. The coordinator will translate technical, territorial, and community evidence into strategic inputs to enhance decision-making, institutional learning, and accountability to donors and partners. Key responsibilities include leading a technical team, supervising programmatic and territorial information management, providing technical and programmatic leadership for capacity building and livelihood support, coordinating activities funded by the Adaptation Fund, and fostering inter-institutional collaboration. The ultimate goal is to strengthen local and institutional capacities and ensure the sustainability of livelihoods, with a focus on food system resilience and climate change adaptation.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility is to lead and coordinate a technical team for the effective implementation of Sustainable Food Systems interventions. This involves monitoring progress, risks, and results, while strategically supporting cooperating partners. A key duty is supervising the management, systematization, and utilization of programmatic, technical, and territorial information to generate solid evidence for reporting, accountability, and strategic decision-making. The role also entails providing technical and programmatic leadership in capacity building, technical assistance, and follow-up on Productive Assets, ensuring their contribution to livelihood resilience and sustainability. Furthermore, the position requires coordinating the execution of activities funded by the Adaptation Fund, adhering to approved plans, donor guidelines, and WFP standards. It also involves leading operational and inter-institutional coordination with government entities and other stakeholders for coherent territorial implementation aligned with project objectives. Finally, the role includes consolidating strategic reports, lessons learned, and best practices, and ensuring proper organization of technical, financial, and operational documentation for reviews and audits. Additional related functions may be assigned as needed.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 7 years of demonstrable experience in early recovery, resilience, and climate risk management. Must also have experience in budget execution and analysis, and report generation. An academic background in Agronomy, Economics, Rural Development, Food Systems, International Relations, Public Policy, or a related field is necessary.
