Job Purpose
The Security and Access Associate (G6) is responsible for supporting field-level security risk management and humanitarian access activities to ensure the safe, principled, and uninterrupted implementation of WFP programmes in Haiti. This role involves continuously analyzing the evolving security and access landscape, identifying and reporting potential risks, and contributing to the development and implementation of mitigation strategies. The Associate will engage with local stakeholders, including community representatives and authorities, to facilitate humanitarian access in line with WFP's mandate and humanitarian principles. By integrating security and access considerations into operational planning and delivery, and by providing timely information and operational support, the incumbent plays a critical role in protecting WFP staff, partners, and beneficiaries, thereby enabling effective program delivery in challenging environments.
Responsibilities
The Security and Access Associate (G6) plays a crucial role in enabling the World Food Programme (WFP) to deliver its essential food security and nutrition assistance in challenging and volatile environments, particularly in Haiti where insecurity has escalated. This position is vital for managing security risks and ensuring humanitarian access, thereby safeguarding WFP staff, assets, and operations. The Associate will monitor and analyze the evolving security landscape, identify potential risks and access constraints, and report on their impact. A key responsibility involves engaging with local actors, including community leaders and authorities, to facilitate movement and maintain access in accordance with humanitarian principles. The role also supports the implementation of security mitigation measures and access strategies, ensuring these are integrated into WFP's operational planning. Furthermore, the Associate will provide guidance to junior staff, coordinate security and access information, and maintain essential documentation. This position requires a proactive approach to risk management and a commitment to ensuring the safe and continuous delivery of WFP's life-saving programs in high-risk contexts.
Work Experience
Requires at least six years of professional experience in a relevant field. Preference is given to candidates with experience in Security Management, particularly those with a background and interest in international humanitarian development.
