IT Operations Assistant

Job Purpose
The IT Operations Assistant (G5) will support the implementation and standardization of IT operations and technologies for WFP Haiti. This role involves providing high-quality technical support and maintaining systems and data to ensure efficient IT service delivery. The Assistant will perform system maintenance, troubleshoot issues, manage IT equipment, and deploy hardware and software. They will also assist in configuring and monitoring emergency communication systems, support SCOPE IT solutions, and manage IT assets. Additionally, the role includes providing user training, responding to IT-related requests, and contributing to emergency response processes, ensuring the smooth functioning of IT infrastructure and services within the country office.
Responsibilities
The IT Operations Assistant will support the implementation and standardization of IT operations and technologies for the WFP Haiti Country Office. Key responsibilities include system maintenance, such as monitoring, diagnostics, and optimization, to ensure smooth and efficient functioning. This role also involves maintaining technological equipment, including standard repairs, configuration, and storage, adhering to data security and access control standards. The assistant will prepare files and systems for inventory and archiving, ensuring data accuracy and currency. They will also distribute tasks to colleagues, ensuring adherence to agreed standards and deadlines, and respond to various technology and system-related requests to assist WFP staff. Additionally, the role includes providing standard training to end-users on technologies and systems, performing routine deployments of server hardware and software, and supporting the configuration and monitoring of emergency communication systems. The assistant will also support beneficiary registration planning and execution, configure and deploy SCOPE IT solutions and equipment, and provide reports on beneficiary management, identifying gaps and needs. Maintenance of all WFP IT and SCOPE assets, including loaned kits, computers, and mobile devices, is also a core duty, along with identifying and resolving issues between retailers and beneficiaries related to SCOPE kits and connectivity. Finally, the assistant will apply established emergency response processes and procedures to support emergency food assistance delivery.
Work Experience
The role requires five years of relevant experience in IT support, computer networks, or system administration, preferably within the UN or international organizations. Experience in planning and deploying IT/SCOPE systems, installing and configuring hardware/software, and providing user support is essential. Familiarity with IT service management systems, emergency operations, mobile device management, and field coordination is also necessary.
