Job Purpose
The Programme Policy Officer will provide crucial support to the Government of Indonesia in the technical, operational, and strategic implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (FNMP). This role involves managing the delivery of technical assistance, ensuring alignment with national priorities and WFP standards, and facilitating effective coordination with government counterparts and development partners. The officer will lead the planning and execution of Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) activities, support data collection for evidence-based decision-making, and contribute to partnership development and resource mobilization efforts. The position requires strong analytical, communication, and project management skills to enhance the sustainability, effectiveness, and impact of the FNMP, ultimately contributing to improved nutrition, health, and education for millions of beneficiaries.
Responsibilities
The Programme Policy Officer role involves supporting policy and food assistance initiatives, specifically contributing to the World Food Programme's (WFP) efforts in Indonesia to implement the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (FNMP). Key responsibilities include managing the technical assistance provided to the government, ensuring alignment with national strategies and WFP standards. This involves leading the design and revision of project workplans, providing responsive technical assistance to address operational and policy challenges, and facilitating the integration of fortified foods into the program. The role also requires coordinating Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) activities related to school health and nutrition, and supporting data collection for evidence-based decision-making. Furthermore, the officer will facilitate external and internal coordination with government counterparts, development partners, and WFP functional units. Partnership development, resource mobilization through proposal writing, and leading advocacy efforts through event planning and report preparation are also crucial. Budget monitoring for efficient resource utilization and performing miscellaneous tasks, including acting as Officer-in-Charge when needed, complete the scope of duties.
Work Experience
Requires at least five years of progressive professional experience in programme management, government coordination, or related fields. Previous experience with school meals or national sector platforms (education, food security, nutrition, health, social protection, agriculture, or related areas) is also necessary.
