Job Purpose
The Senior Finance Associate will provide essential support in planning, coordinating, and delivering finance, budget, and administration services within WFP Jordan. This role involves supervising and guiding finance staff to ensure the transparent and efficient utilization of financial resources in compliance with WFP's policies, rules, and regulations. The incumbent will act as a key point of contact for procedural and technical guidance, contribute to policy development, and enhance internal processes and systems. Responsibilities include monitoring cash positions, optimizing liquidity, ensuring timely payments, managing budgets, and preparing financial reports to facilitate informed decision-making. The role also requires coordinating with other teams to ensure seamless administrative service delivery and maintaining accurate financial records.
Responsibilities
The Senior Finance Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and compliant management of financial resources. This position acts as a primary escalation point, providing procedural and technical support to staff in finance and budget matters, thereby upholding WFP's financial policies and regulations. A key responsibility involves contributing to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures, assessing the impact of changes, and recommending actions to establish robust accounting procedures, systems, and internal controls. The role also focuses on enhancing internal processes, corporate systems, and designing tools to promote transparent financial resource utilization. Daily cash position monitoring is essential for optimizing surplus cash and maximizing investment returns. Furthermore, the associate ensures timely payment processing, resolves complex disbursement issues, and contributes to budget preparation, implementation, and monitoring, including expenditure tracking and forecasting to meet future funding needs. Coordination with other teams is vital for seamless financial and administrative service delivery. The associate oversees account balances, ensures accurate and timely recording of financial transactions to prevent overdrafts, and analyzes general ledger accounts for corrective actions. Preparing and analyzing financial reports, offering recommendations for informed decision-making, and supervising junior staff are also integral. Finally, the role requires readiness for emergency preparedness and immediate service delivery in the field.
Work Experience
Requires seven years of progressive work experience, with a minimum of six years in finance and at least one year in another field, preferably finance. The role involves analyzing and interpreting data, generating reports, and managing financial transactions. Strong skills in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, corporate ERP systems, financial reporting tools, advanced Excel, and data analysis are essential. The candidate must also possess clear communication skills for financial guidance and reporting, and the ability to guide, coach, and supervise junior finance staff.
