Job Purpose
The Livelihoods, Resilience & SAMS Officer (NOB) will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of Strategic Outcome 3 of the Country Strategic Plan, specifically focusing on Activities 5 and 6. This position involves providing specialized technical expertise and advisory support to ensure the highest quality and effectiveness of integrated climate resilience and food systems efforts. The role requires overseeing smallholder agricultural market support (SAMS) and climate-resilient livelihood activities, offering strategic leadership, technical oversight, and strong project management. Key responsibilities include supporting capacity strengthening, identifying viable business packages, managing project implementation, and contributing to fundraising efforts through proposal development and report writing. The officer will also represent WFP in relevant forums, engage with donors, and collaborate with national policies and partners to advance sustainable initiatives and strengthen food systems.
Responsibilities
The Livelihoods & Resilience Officer at WFP is responsible for supporting the delivery of Strategic Outcome 3, focusing on climate resilience and food systems. This involves providing specialized technical expertise and advisory support to partners to ensure high-quality, effective programming. The role includes overseeing specific activities related to smallholder agricultural market support (SAMS) and climate-resilient livelihoods, offering strategic leadership and project management. Key duties involve supporting capacity strengthening and coaching on sustainable livelihood options, soil and water conservation, and climate change impacts. The officer ensures projects align with donor requirements, utilizing monitoring and evaluation data to improve programming. They will identify opportunities for digital innovations to enhance smallholder livelihoods and market access, and contribute to fundraising efforts by developing proposals and reports. Advocacy for policy influence, representation in relevant forums, and collaboration with national and international partners are also crucial. The role supports government initiatives, strengthens business linkages for smallholders, and integrates nutrition, gender, and protection mainstreaming into programming. Technical support for recovery and livelihoods enhancement projects, along with ensuring environmental and social safeguards, are integral to the position.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of five years of progressive experience in supporting the design and implementation of programs related to Natural Resources Management, Climate Change Adaptation, Livelihoods, Food Systems, and/or Smallholder Agriculture Market Support. Experience should be with UN agencies, government entities, international NGOs, or civil society organizations.
