Job Purpose
The Driver will be responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation for authorized personnel and commodities within the Caribbean Multi-Country Office. The Driver will also assist with basic administrative tasks outside of driving duties, such as managing correspondence, maintaining vehicle logs, and ensuring the vehicle is kept in optimal condition. Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this role involve ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of authorized personnel and commodities within the Caribbean region. This includes driving personnel to various destinations, meeting visitors at entry points, and assisting with basic formalities. A key duty is maintaining accurate vehicle logbooks and reporting on the mechanical status of the assigned vehicle to ensure optimal use and fuel efficiency. The incumbent is also responsible for keeping the vehicle clean, well-maintained, and fully equipped with necessary supplies and travel authorizations, promptly reporting any mechanical issues. In the event of an accident or other problems, the driver must follow established procedures and report immediately to their supervisor. Beyond driving duties, the role includes performing basic administrative tasks such as sorting and distributing correspondence, responding to routine queries, maintaining office files, and performing data entry. The position may also require supporting emergency response activities, including potential deployment to affected countries and working beyond regular hours during crises. A valid driver's license and a safe driving record are essential, along with knowledge of driving regulations, local conditions, and safety standards.
Work Experience
Requires two or more years of experience as a Driver, ideally within an international organization, embassy, or UN system. A demonstrated safe driving record is essential. Experience driving various vehicle types, including vans and trucks, is necessary. Defensive driving experience is a plus.
