Job Purpose
This internship opportunity within the HR Unit and Partnership, Reports & Communications unit in Freetown, Sierra Leone, aims to provide practical experience in delivering standard business support processes. The intern will primarily support the HR and Partnership teams by coordinating activities and providing technical assistance. Key responsibilities include assisting with HR queries, managing HR data in systems, compiling HR data for analysis, and providing administrative support for recruitment and onboarding. For the Partnership team, duties involve preparing donor-facing materials, assisting with event logistics, contributing to communication products, conducting partner research, and supporting report drafting and editing. This role is designed to offer valuable exposure to humanitarian operations and WFP's core functions.
Responsibilities
The HR Intern will provide essential support by responding to general HR inquiries, ensuring high-quality service delivery. Responsibilities include utilizing HR management systems for data entry and updates, monitoring deadlines for contract expirations, and maintaining data accuracy. They will extract and compile HR data related to recruitment, staff conditions, performance, and training to aid in analysis and reporting. Administrative support for various HR activities, including recruitment and onboarding, will also be a key function, ensuring compliance with procedures. Maintaining confidential personnel records and HR databases accurately is crucial. The Partnership Intern will support the Partnerships, Communications, and Reports (PRC) team by preparing donor-facing materials like presentations and briefing notes. This role involves assisting in organizing donor visits and events, including logistical arrangements. The intern will contribute to advocacy and communication products, such as fact sheets and social media content, promoting the WFP’s Country Strategic Plan. Basic research on potential partners and funding opportunities will inform engagement strategies. Drafting donor-facing documents, editing reports for clarity and accuracy, and assisting with internal communications and training materials are also expected. Both roles require strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, with an emphasis on attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Work Experience
The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking interns for its HR Unit and Partnership, Reports & Communications unit. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, or be recent graduates (within six months). Studies should be in fields such as International Relations, Journalism, Communications, Business Management, Human Resources, or Economics. Proficiency in MS Office and English is required.
