Job Purpose
The IT Operations Assistant will provide essential support for the effective delivery of IT services within WFP Palestine. This role involves carrying out system and equipment maintenance, including data backups and system protection, to ensure optimal performance. The assistant will also undertake basic monitoring and troubleshooting of server systems, respond to user queries, and manage IT asset inventories. Additionally, the position supports the rollout of new software versions, ensures data accuracy in various IT systems, and assists in creating training materials. The role requires adherence to emergency response procedures to support critical food assistance operations, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of WFP's technological infrastructure in a challenging humanitarian context.
Responsibilities
The IT Operations Assistant role involves providing essential support for the World Food Programme's (WFP) Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Division. Key responsibilities include performing system and equipment maintenance, such as data backups and system protection, to ensure optimal functionality. The assistant will also undertake basic monitoring and troubleshooting of server systems to guarantee consistent IT service delivery to staff. Responding to routine technology queries and supporting the correct application of IT systems are crucial. Additionally, the role requires inspecting incoming IT assets, reporting discrepancies in inventory, and conducting basic beta testing for new software rollouts. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date information in inventories, databases, and archives is vital for system management. The assistant will also contribute to creating training documentation and web content under senior guidance. Following emergency response procedures to support critical food assistance needs is also part of the role. The position requires a secondary school education, with a post-secondary certificate in a related field being desirable. Four or more years of relevant work experience in IT support, data analytics, or IT infrastructure are preferred. Fluency in English and Arabic is essential.
Work Experience
Four or more years of relevant work experience is desirable. This experience should be progressive and in areas such as IT projects, technical troubleshooting, IT support, helpdesk operations, data analytics, network administration, or IT infrastructure and networking.
