Job Purpose
The Senior Driver will provide essential transportation services for WFP staff, officials, and visitors, ensuring safe and efficient movement according to UN security regulations. This role involves planning routes and schedules for other drivers, assisting with airport arrivals, and maintaining accurate vehicle logs. The Senior Driver is responsible for the upkeep and readiness of WFP vehicles, including coordinating maintenance and ensuring all necessary supplies and authorizations are in place. Additionally, the position requires adherence to accident reporting procedures and may involve basic office support tasks. The objective is to guarantee reliable and secure transportation, contributing to the smooth operation of WFP activities in the field.
Responsibilities
The Senior Driver is responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation for WFP staff, UN officials, and visitors, including basic translation and delivery of items while adhering to UN safety and security regulations. This role involves planning routes and schedules for other drivers, assisting arriving personnel with entry formalities, and maintaining accurate vehicle logbooks for reporting on mechanical status and fuel consumption. The Senior Driver also coordinates vehicle maintenance, ensuring vehicles are equipped and ready for service. They must follow established procedures for deliveries and accidents, reporting any issues to their supervisor. Additionally, the position may require performing basic office tasks such as filing, photocopying, and managing mail and bills. Key qualifications include a secondary school education, formal driver training with a valid license (B and C/C1), and at least three years of driving experience, preferably with international organizations. Proficiency in English and Ukrainian, knowledge of local traffic laws, defensive driving skills, and basic vehicle repair abilities are also essential. The role emphasizes a client-oriented approach, responsibility, courtesy, and tact.
Work Experience
Requires three or more years of experience as a driver, ideally within an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record. Must possess B and C/C1 driving licenses and experience driving manual transmission vehicles. Defensive driving experience is a plus.
